President Biden's recent State of the Union Address (SOTU) spoke in detail about the health of seniors in the US and proposed a new initiative to improve the quality of care in the nation's nursing homes. This initiative comes as the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted conditions in nursing homes throughout the nation and the effects substandard quality of care can have on the health outcomes of seniors. The Biden-Harris administration is partnering with the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) through its Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the health initiative.
