Beware of Medicare Fraud during COVID-19

Greetings Members,

In the COVID-19 pandemic, fraudsters are taking advantage of the public urgent needs for tests, treatments and personal protection products. Unsafe, unproved and even harmful products are coming to the market, including substandard N95 masks, fake home test kits, preorder of COVID-19 vaccines and active pharmaceutical ingredients for COVID-19 drugs under study, etc.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have taken action against fraudsters and scammers. If you are offering a medical product, you may check to see if it is approved by FDA or Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) via FDA webpages:

For drugs, please check: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/daf/index.cfm

For devices, please check: https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/products-and-medical-procedures/device-approvals-denials-and-clearances

To report unlawful sale of medical products over the internet at https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/email/oc/buyonline/english.cfm

Report suspect criminal activity https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/email/oc/oci/contact.cfm or email FDA-COVID-19-Fraudulent-Products@fda.hhs.gov.
