Last week, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved updated COVID-19 vaccines for use in people aged 65 years and older, as well as younger adults and children with at least one preexisting condition (e.g., diabetes, asthma, cancer) that increases their risk of becoming severely ill from the disease. The approved vaccines include Moderna’s mNEXSPIKE and Novavax’s Nuvaxovid for individuals 12 years and older, Moderna’s SPIKEVAX for children 6 months and older, and Pfizer’s COMIRNATY for people 5 years and older. Individuals under 65 years who are not at high risk may still receive the vaccine after consulting with their primary care physician.

Please stay tuned for upcoming vaccination recommendations from the ACIP, which will follow this FDA approval.
