Vaccination visits can sometimes be challenging for older adults. Factors such as unrecognized contraindications, anxiety related to needles, and concerns about pain may make the experience less comfortable and, in some cases, lead to dizziness or fainting.

To help address these challenges, Immunize.org offers a collection of practical resources for healthcare providers. These short videos and tools highlight strategies to reduce pain and anxiety during vaccination (Video 1), explain why fainting can occur and how to prevent anxiety-related fainting and falls (Video 2), and provide guidance on administering multiple intramuscular vaccines during a single visit (Video 3). The resources also include a screening checklist for vaccine contraindications and history of fainting or dizziness (Video 4 and PDF resource). Identifying these issues before vaccination can help providers take appropriate precautions and create a safer, more comfortable experience for patients.
Each video is less than four minutes long and offers practical tips that can be applied immediately in clinical practice. Take a few minutes to explore these resources and learn simple strategies to enhance the vaccination experience for your patients.
