Please be reminded that MA open enrollment can be done during the first quarter of the year from January 1, 2021-March 31, 2021.
If you encounter patients who are not happy with their current MA/MA-PD coverage, please tell them that it is NOT too late to change your Medicare Advantage Plan. They are allowed to change your coverage one time, between January 1 and March 31, if they meet the following criteria:
• They are currently enrolled in an MA or MA-PD Plan and they want to return to Original Medicare and obtain a Medicare prescription drug plan; or
• They are currently enrolled in an MA or MA-PD Plan and they want to change to a different MA or MA-PD Plan.
Please note that, during Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment, they cannot:
• switch from Original Medicare to an MA or MA-PD Plan; or
• Join a new or switch from one PDP to another PDP.
If they have questions about their current coverage or if they can change their Medicare Advantage Plan call their SHIP program at 1-800-AGE-LINE. The SHIP program is here to answer their questions and assist them in making the most informed decisions about your health care coverage. C.A.R.E.S. network members can also refer your patients to us by filling out the referral form.
