Medicare Open Enrollment is Almost Here!

Medicare’s Annual Open Enrollment Period is fast approaching, running October 15 through December 7. As pharmacists, you play a key role in reminding patients to take advantage of this opportunity. During this period, beneficiaries can review their current coverage, switch Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plans, or drop and enroll in a new plan. Any changes will take effect on January 1, 2026. Formularies, premiums, out-of-pocket costs, and coverage often change, so encourage your Medicare patients to review their plans carefully to ensure they still meet their health needs and budget and to make changes if necessary. You can also refer patients to Alabama State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for free counseling on Medicare plans.
