Nursing home staff and vaccinations

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is developing an emergency regulation requiring staff vaccinations within the nation’s more than 15,000 Medicare and Medicaid-participating nursing homes. https://www.cms.gov/newsroom/press-releases/biden-harris-administration-takes-additional-action-protect-americas-nursing-home-residents-covid-19.

In light of this CMS requirement, the third dose and booster recommendations, the flu vaccination season and the recent FDA full approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, pharmacists are going to have a very busy fall season. If you need help with Medicare Part D enrollment (October 15 - December 7), please ask your patients to call 1-800-Age-Line or refer your patients to the nearest SHIP.

We thank you for all that you do.
