This past Tuesday, March 29, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released updated regulations for COVID-19 booster doses for certain immunocompromised individuals and adults 50 years or older. The FDA's authorization covers a second booster dose of Pfizer-BioNTech OR Moderna at least 4 months after the administration of their first booster dose for qualified individuals.
Following the FDA's authorization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released updated guidance the same day recommending a second booster dose for the same older adult and immunocompromised population noted by the FDA.
