Pneumococcal Vaccination Now Recommended for Adults Starting at Age 50

In a recent update, the CDC recommends that adults with an unknown vaccination history, or who have not yet received any pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, should begin receiving the pneumococcal vaccination from age 50, rather than 65. According to the CDC, this change is to enable “more adults the opportunity to protect themselves from pneumococcal disease at the age when risk of infection substantially increases.” Learn more about the pneumococcal vaccination recommendations at: https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2024/s1023-pneumococcal-vaccination.html and https://www.cdc.gov/pneumococcal/hcp/vaccine-recommendations/index.html
